The book documents the river from where it first starts, in rural Illinois, to where it ends in downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. The book is being published by the Columbia College Chicago Press.
The cover features a flood dull varnish with a metallic ink for the title with a spot gloss varnish to help it pop off the page. The back cover features a hand drawn illustration by Kevin Riordan with a flood dull varnish and spot gloss varnish highlighting the river.
